Nordic walking

Nordic walking

Nordic walking is a great form of exercise for everybody. It suits people of all ages and of all fitness levels and is the ideal warm-up and recovery for professional athletes. Developed in Finland, Nordic walking is based on the familiar diagonal stride skiing technique: the poles give rhythm to the stride, but also more length and speed to the step.

Nordic walking is essentially walking with poles. The poles make walking more efficient in many ways and the walking technique often becomes more balanced. The average calorie consumption is about 400kcal/h (while normal walking burns up 280kcal/h).

The Levi Nordic Fitness Sports Park has a total of 113 kilometres of clearly marked trails in diverse fell landscapes.

Guided training

Try out this interesting and efficient form of exercise with a trained instructor. The Nordic walking instructors at the Levi Ski Resort are trained by the International Nordic Walking Association (INWA). During the instructed session, we first take a look at the equipment and then do a warm-up.

The instructor describes the basic Nordic walking techniques which are then practised on a trail selected by you. The course participants also have the chance to test Suunto pulse-measuring wrist computers which give direct feedback on the exercise intensity and help find the optimal exercise level to improve your fitness.

We are happy to arrange more challenging and longer instructed sessions according to your wishes.
