Take a Nordic walk to Reindeer Park

The Nordic walking guide will meet you at the rental of Gondola, where you also get suitable walking sticks for your height and a wristop computer. After some warm-up exercises you will have the opportunity to acquaint yourself with the basic Nordic walking technique, and start off towards Levi fell along an easy turfed piste. The guide will then take you to Reindeer Park Poroparkki in the southern part of Levi fell, where you can see reindeers grazing in their natural habitat. You will also have an opportunity to feed the reindeers. 

Having reached the fell top, you can enjoy a traditional break for coffee and cakes on the terrace of the restaurant Palovartija. The restaurant's name "Palovartija" (fire guard) refers to the building having served earlier as a fire guard's house. The building has now been refurbished to serve as a restaurant while also retaining its historical value. During the break, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the surrounding fells of Aakenus, Ylläs and Kätkätunturi. After the break, you will take the Gondola lift down to the starting point.

To round off the hike, the guide will help you retrieve and analyse the data from you wristop computer at the Gondola rental. The overall length of the hike is 5 km. You should aim to keep your pulse level at 50-70% of the maximum level, depending on your level of fitness; that is to say, you should be able to talk without puffing and blowing.

The Levi Nordic Fitness Sports Park is a part of international Nordic Fitness Sport Park concept.

Bookings: Bookings no later than the day before by noon. Cancellations must be made no later than the day before by noon. If cancellations are made any later, the full fee will be charged
Equipment needed: Outdoor clothing to suit the weather conditions. Suunto wristop computers for measuring the pulse are provided by the organiser.
Price: 22 €/ person includes tuition, Nordic walking poles and the use of a wristop computer during the hike
