Village blacksmith Janne Marttiini started to create iron utensils and tools in Lapland almost a century ago. His knives subsequently became world famous. The blacksmith´s forge is also the heart of the Ilkka Marttiini workshop. The collaboration between a designer and a blacksmith has created a series of functional design products that awaken the senses. The handcrafted, rustic feel and shiny finished surfaces of these unique items are truly tempting to touch.

Oppas Lapland is a recently established design company located in Levi, Lapland, Finland. All the designs have strong connection with the unique, clean and diverse nature of Lapland, - it’s phenomenons, animals and plants. Designs, reindeer, arctic fox and snow crusted spruce, as well the cheerful colors of the textiles, are inspired by the Lappish nature and created by the young designers from Lapland. Oppas Lapland designs and produces textiles with Scandinavian style that especially suit for children, although adults sure enjoy the joyful designs as well. The name of the company, Oppas, means deep, untouched snow in Sami language.
