Finavia Corporation is carrying out extensive improvements at Helsinki Airport. In order to maintain the highest level of aviation safety, it will renovate the airport’s main runway during the summer. The investment is part of Finavia’s 900 million euro development programme, aiming to strengthen Helsinki Airport's position as the leading transfer airport in Northern Europe.

The Alpine Ski World Cup men's slalom season was opened at Levi on Sunday. After the first run last year’s winner Marcel Hirscher, who named his reindeer Ferdinand, was leading the race 0.06 seconds ahead Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen.
