Dreamsweeper – From you emanates a longing that speaks in the languages of dreams and poems

At midnight, we wandered singing. You run ahead along the path. You see and hear even the smallest things. The swamp calls me to walk, so the bones of life may shift. You travel with me on the back of a hare, falling asleep under the wing of a grouse.

Salla-Mari Kalasniemi's exhibition takes visitors into the soulscapes of Finnish marshes, where one sinks into emotions as soft as cottage wool and commits as deeply as a wolf pair. We pedal into the swamp, defying external expectations, and defend our territory to the end. The canvases include blood-red destinies, soul sorrows dissolved in the mix of paints, and poems torn from the heart roots.

"My goal is that the combinations of my paintings and poems will sweep the viewer to the edge of the swamp for a moment to feel the magic of our nature in their bones."

Salla-Mari Kalasniemi (born in 1992) lives in Kuusamo, between the forest and the lake, but considers herself forever a resident of Kemi. In her art, she explores the longing for the harshly beautiful state of nature and the cyclical rhythm of life. It is important for her to depict a world where the well-being of individual animals matters, the biodiversity of nature is respected, and protected.
