Levi Bike & Outdoor Fest is a treasure trove of family fun for all ages
Levi Bike & Outdoor Fest is filled with activities and experiences for parents and their children during the best part of summer. Summertime in Levi is full of activities for all ages. We asked two parents what their family’s favourites were during the Bike & Outdoor Fest.
In Levi, different kinds of races will take place during the events week, e.g. enduro and downhill cycling Grand Prix for Finnish championship points. In addition to these races, the Levi Extreme Triathlon will take place, and the legendary Ylläs-Levi MTB and NUTS Ylläs-Levi will also take place this year. Many participants come to Levi with the whole family and, at the same time, celebrate a joint summer holiday. In the Tyrväinen family, Petri Tyrväinen (father) rides in the enduro Finnish Championship series and will again take part in a competition connected with the Levi Bike & Outdoor Fest in July. The whole Tyrväinen family cycles, so they took their own bikes to the event last summer.
“The kids had bikes with them, and they liked to ride the pump track in front of Zero Point. There were also bikes, scooters and helmets available next to the track, which was great if you didn’t have one of your own. The rest of the family also liked to watch the pump track and trail races and the enduro races on the slopes”, says Petri.
Even in summer, Levi has easy access to the fell with two different gondola lifts. The Tyrväinen family took advantage of the landscape lifts while the family’s father was racing in the fell.
“The family went to the top of Levi to admire the scenery and watch the race activities. The family also visited the Activity Park. My family and I are coming to Levi again in July and will go on a summer holiday at the same time. I will take part in the competitions in Levi again”, says Petri Tyrväinen.
The family has also travelled from central Finland to Levi Bike & Outdoor Fest for several years now, as the family’s father is also running the enduro Finnish Championship series. When the family’s children were under school age, their absolute favourites were the spa and the Activity Park traffic park.
“It is wonderful that Levi has so much to do for children, even in the summer. When the kids grew up a bit, the summer toboggan run had been one of their favourite things to do alongside the spa. We also go off-road cycling with the children, and last summer, we also tried out Bike Park’s new Village Trail. It became an absolute family favourite”, says Pia.
Levi’s summer soon enchanted the family, and now they have their own holiday home in the centre of Levi. The family has yet to try many summer activities, including disc golf, which has courses open 24 hours a day in the summer. The Levi Bike Park also invites the whole family to start pedalling again.
“Taking your bike up the lift is fun and easy. Even if you’re not in good shape, there’s a suitable route for everyone. The lift is easily accessible, and you can eat and drink at Palovartija. Such great views from up there”, says Pia.
