Late Winter Frost – Särestö’s Winter Holiday Weeks Art Workshop

Welcome to try salt painting

19.2.2026 | Culture and entertainment, Families

The sunlight is growing longer day by day here in Särestö as well, and spring is cautiously making its way in.
During the winter holiday weeks’ art workshop, however, we will draw inspiration from the crisp frost of winter!

Welcome to try salt painting, inspired by the frost patterns created by freezing temperatures. In the workshop, you’ll get to admire the reaction between salt, watercolors, and opaque poster paints, and the beautiful patterns they create together.

The workshop is suitable for artists of all ages and skill levels and will take place in a beautiful and inspiring setting: the studio hall of Reidar’s atelier home.

As salt paintings take a while to dry, you may want to join the workshop first and leave your artwork to dry while you take a museum tour.

Event dates:
19 February, 12–4 pm
26 February, 12–4 pm
5 March, 12–4 pm

The Thursday art workshop is included in the museum admission fee during the winter holiday weeks. With a valid Museum Card, participation is free of charge.

Särestö admission fees 2026:

  • Standard ticket: €15

  • School pupils, students, pensioners, and unemployed visitors: €12

  • Family ticket (2 adults and 2 children): €42

Särestö is open Tue–Fri 11 am–5 pm, Sat 10 am–4 pm.
The museum tour includes approximately one kilometre of walking, so weather-appropriate clothing is recommended. Unfortunately, the site is not accessible.
