YLLÄS-LEVI SKI MARATHON

On Saturday 17th April 2020 Levi gathers world's best professional long distance skiers with a huge mass of amateur skiers to participate in a very special skiing event. For the fourth time Ylläs-Levi will be the final event in Visma Ski Classics. Other legendary Visma Ski Classics events are Vasaloppet, Birkebeinerrennet and Marcialonga among others

Come and join this international long distance skiing world cup's final event in Levi! Last year sunny spring weather accompanied skiers on their way from Ylläs to Levi enjoying the once of a kind scenery in Finnish Lapland. At finish happy participants praised warmly this unforgettable experience and well organized event.

TWO COURSE OPTIONS IN CLASSIC TECHNIQUE

Ylläs-Levi represents two different course options. Both will take you through extremely beautiful Lappish fell and national park scenery from Ylläs to Levi. They offer a unique experience and diverse journey for both elite and recreational skiers.

Ylläs-Levi 70 km is suitable for active skiers that want to really challenge themselves. Demanding circa 70 km course, prepared especially for elite and competitive skiers, goes from Ylläsjärvi, Äkäslompolo, Kukastunturi, Pyhäjärvi and finally heading to Levi. There are three fells for skiers to climb over with beautiful sceneries, magical wilderness with wildlife around, easy skiing on northern swamp-like areas and great opportunities to spot reindeer along the course.

There are definitely two factors that make this event different from many other long distance ski races. One is the nature of Lapland. It's unlike anything else. The second is the total vertical climb, which is more than 1000 meters. There are long climbs up and fast downhill parts. Please pay attention at the downhill parts!

Ylläs-Levi 55 km is suitable for recreational amateur skiers that train regularly and goal-oriently. Shorter and easier circa 55 km course goes from Äkäslompolo to Levi centre. 55 km follows mostly the same course as the longer one leaving out the most demanding fell ascents. The scenic Kukastunturi will be included on this shorter course if the weather permits.

Ylläs-Levi will be skied in classic technique. 55 km will be organized at the same day as the Visma Ski Classics race. This gives participants an outstanding opportunity to live the special atmosphere of this international skifest. Take care of other participants. This ensures that everyone can enjoy the race all the way to the finish line. The event will be televised.
