Midnight Sun Hunt

Travelers can hunt for gold under the midnight sun in Levi, Finnish Lapland

2.6.2026

A new summer adventure is coming to Levi as travelers are invited to search for a hidden gold prize worth €20,000 beneath the Arctic midnight sun.

The Midnight Sun Hunt begins on 18 June 2026 and will lead participants across the landscapes of Levi through a series of clues released throughout the summer.

The hunt challenges participants to solve clues and follow leads that gradually reveal the location of a hidden gold bar. While the prize can be found after any clue, each new clue released during the summer makes the location easier to identify. The final clue will be published on 22 August.

The adventure begins at the Levi Visitor Centre (Myllyjoentie 2), where participants collect their first clue and register for the hunt. From there, the clues guide participants through trails, landmarks and local services across Levi, turning the destination itself into part of the experience.

Levi's summer offers a very different side of Lapland. Above the Arctic Circle, the midnight sun keeps the landscape illuminated around the clock, creating endless opportunities for outdoor activities, exploration and adventure.

“Levi is known above all for its winter, but the northern summer is still undiscovered by many. We want to give travelers a new reason to visit Levi when the sun never sets and the fell landscape reveals a completely different side of itself,” says Satu Pesonen, CEO of Visit Levi.

The Midnight Sun Hunt is organised in cooperation with Agnico Eagle Finland and Levi Ski Resort. The initiative highlights the strong collaboration between local businesses and organisations in developing Levi as a year-round destination.

While searching for the prize, participants can experience Levi's extensive network of hiking and biking trails, local attractions and summer services. The hunt has been designed to encourage responsible exploration of the area while showcasing the unique character of the Arctic summer.

Participants are asked to stay within permitted areas, respect nature and follow responsible outdoor practices. The prize has been hidden in a way that does not require digging or disturbing the terrain.

The Midnight Sun Hunt runs from 18 June until late August 2026. Further information, rules and participation details are available at midnightsunhunt.com
