Ylläs–Levi Hiihto causes changes to outdoor trails
Changes to outdoor trails and traffic in the Levi and Ylläs areas due to the Ylläs–Levi Hiihto ski marathon on April 9-11, 2026.
Ylläs–Levi Hiihto powered by Fischer will be held for the second time as a two-day event:
on Friday, April 10 (classic style) and Saturday, April 11 (skate/free style). The route runs from Ylläsjärvi to Levi. A detailed route description can be found on Ylläs–Levi Hiihto's website.
The event is organised by Visit Levi and Visit Ylläs. The event will cause changes to the availability of the ski trail network.
The ski tracks along the race route will be closed to other users starting Thursday, April 9 at 20:00 and Friday, April 10 at 20:00. This is done to preserve freshly groomed tracks for the morning starts.
During the race, skiing against the direction of the route is strictly prohibited for safety reasons. Skiing in the same direction is allowed with extra caution, but the organizers recommend using alternative routes.
The route will reopen after the last skiers have passed on both race days. A fire brigade (VPK) group will follow the last skiers, and their progress can be tracked via the Ylläs trail map.
At the Levi finish area, the section of the track on the scenic bridge is completely closed to anyone except participants, as it leads directly into the fenced finish area.
