Iivo Niskanen and Juha Mieto to be ambassadors of Ylläs Levi

20.11.17

Ylläs-Levi takes place on April 14, 2018. There are two distances available; 67 km challenging course and 50 km easier one.

Ylläs-Levi is about five months away, but at the dawn of the new season it is time to get ready for the finale of Visma Ski Classics.

For this season’s event, Iivo Niskanen and Juha Mieto are appointed to be the Ambassadors of Ylläs-Levi. To honor the occasion, Ylläs-Levi will present a brand new poster where the bear in the middle symbolizes the nature of the event and the power of these amazing individuals. Both skiers strongly believe that Ylläs-‐Levi is on its way to become an international success.

- I am honored to be part of Ylläs‐Levi, Iivo admits.

- I would like to support long distance skiing in Finland and promote the wonderful nature we have in Lapland. That guarantees a unique experience for professional and amateur skiers alike. I believe we will see a lot of top Finnish skiers participating in the event come April 14th, and it will raise the bar for the event and make this sport much bigger, not just in Finland but internationally, too. Ylläs-Levi can become one of the most important races in the Visma Ski Classics tour.

Juha Mieto agrees with Iivo, and he is more than delighted to continue his post as the ambassador in 2018 as well.

- It was really great to be present at Ylläs-Levi last April when the race took place in wonderful conditions highlighting the breathtaking sceneries from the top of our fells. I did not hesitate for a minute when I was asked to be the ambassador again. Long distance skiing is very close to my heart and I want to support it any which way I can. I think Ylläs-‐Levi will grow into a grand international event, and it carries a great deal of importance fortifying our Nordic skiing culture.
