It has been predicted that there's going to be Northern Lights in Levi soon. So take a look skywards! Prediction provided by Sunsää.
The new 50 km route is designed for leisure skiers who want to take their time enjoying the beauty and wonder of Lapland.
Ylläs-Levi is a new long distance ski event in Finland and the finale of the Visma Ski Classics tour, the world championship of long distance skiing. Last season was the first time when the event was officially organized by these two renowned ski resorts. As Ylläs-Levi is the final race in the demanding pro team tour, an exquisite gala night will be arranged in Levi to award and honor the best skiers of the tour.
The 67 km pro team route will now be accompanied with a shorter and easier distance of 50 km starting in Äkäslompolo in Ylläs and finishing in the center of Levi. This event is designed for leisure skiers who want to take their time enjoying the beauty and wonder of Lapland. The course follows the long route leaving out the demanding first part and the final climb to Pyhätunturi.

- We have discussed about this for a long time, Juha Vanhanen, the race director, states firmly.
- Last year’s race was a great success and our skiers really enjoyed it a great deal. However, we got many requests for a shorter and less demanding course, and we are now presenting this new distance for those skiers for whom racing mentality is not their cup of tea. Now they get to enjoy the wonderful nature of Lapland and, of course, the atmosphere of a truly international event as both distances take place on the same day. Our organization is ready for making sure that both events will be met with the quality they deserve. I believe that Ylläs-Levi will be again the number one long distance ski event in Finland, and why not in the world.
The registration for 50 km opens at 10 am on Friday, December 1, 2017 at www.yllaslevi.com. Be quick as the early bird offer is valid for two weeks. Join us on Facebook and our website as we take you behind the scenes of long distance skiing.
