It has been predicted that there's going to be Northern Lights in Levi soon. So take a look skywards! Prediction provided by Sunsää.
The preparations for World Cup Levi are looking fine three days before the start. The frosty weather and light snowfalls on Wednesday are a good prediction for the weekend.
There will be participants from 27 countries in the World Cup slalom opening event at Levi. 155 athletes will be seen in Levi: 65 in the ladies’ and 90 in men’s race. Due to excellent conditions, many athletes have already been training in Levi since last week. The race itself is expected to be high-level.
On Wednesday FIS Chief Race Director World Cup Women Markus Mayer was inspecting the slope conditions. ”What we have seen today shows us that we are ahead of time of our schedule. Everything on the slope is in perfect condition. The course crew has done good work. Our common goal is to produce high level races and I’m sure everyone does his best to achieve it”.
“It was seen on the front slope that everyone is ready for the race and the athletes are in a good mood. Compared to the conditions in Central Europe it is like a different world here. Therefore everyone is eagerly waiting for the start of the slalom season”, Mayer continues.
The building of Levi Black Finish area is about to be completed, too. “All the materials have arrived to the area. The plan is to have everything finalized by Thursday evening”, says Finish area responsible Teo Jeskanen.
”The ideal situation is that there is enough snow in the course. This year our aim is to get the audience closer to the racers. In practice it’s seen on racers left in the finish area”, Jeskanen adds.
