Levi Ski Resort Invests in the South Slopes – New Sunny Express Chairlift for the 2026–2027 Winter Season

13.2.2026

Levi Ski Resort continues its long-term investment program. This year, investments are focused on increasing lift capacity in the South Slopes, with the aim of strengthening the area’s functionality and further improving the smooth flow of ski days. The new Sunny Express chairlift to be built in the South Slopes will increase capacity and speed up access to the area’s key slopes. Construction will take place during the summer season and the lift will be completed for the 2026–2027 winter season.

Levi’s South Slopes are the resort’s most popular skiing area thanks to their gentle, family- and beginner-friendly slopes as well as diverse services. The area’s growing use is reflected in continuous investments in efficiency, safety, and customer experience.

Sunny Express Complements the South Slopes Lift Network

The existing heated six-seat South chairlift in the South Slopes was commissioned at the end of 2014. A new Sunny Express chairlift will now be built alongside it, transporting skiers to the upper sections of slopes 8.2 and 8.3. The upper station of the new lift will be located approximately 150 meters below the upper station of the South chairlift, improving circulation within the slope area and distributing skier traffic more evenly.

Sunny Express is a state-of-the-art six-seat chairlift from Doppelmayr’s D-Line series, designed to meet growing visitor numbers as well as high comfort and safety standards.

Sunny Express will be Levi’s fourth Doppelmayr D-Line chairlift.

A Comprehensive Investment Program Supports Levi’s Long-Term Development

For the 2025–2026 winter season, significant improvements were made in the South Slopes: slopes 8.2 and 8.3 were combined into a wider ski run, lighting was upgraded with LED solutions, and the snowmaking system was enhanced. Accessibility to the area has also been improved with a new parking area for approximately 600 cars.

Between 2019 and 2026, Levi has invested approximately EUR 64 million in the development of slopes and services. The investment program includes, among others, the Levi West chairlift (2019), the Levi Glacier complex with its chairlift in the Front Slopes (2022), the Levi Six chairlift and slope modernizations (2024), and the Sunny Express chairlift in the South Slopes, which will be completed for the 2026–2027 winter season.

Levi Ski Resort records more than 600,000 skier days annually within its modern mountain infrastructure. The resort features 44 slopes and a total of 26 lifts, including two gondolas and, with the new lift, six chairlifts. The total length of groomed slopes is 38.5 kilometers.

Responsibility guides Levi Ski Resort’s investment program. Sunny Express represents the most modern lift technology, and the environmental impacts over its life cycle have been assessed by the manufacturer using an ISO-standard-compliant life cycle assessment.
