Levi Ski Resort opens its sixtieth ski season with a record amount of recycled snow - substantial investments in slope and service development

Beneath the covers on Levi's slopes awaits an impressive 200,000 cubic meters of snow for the opening of the skiing and cross-country skiing season in October, as well as the Levi World Cup alpine skiing event. The most exciting highlight is the Levi Glacier slope area, which was built in the summer of 2022 and is unique in the world.

Levi Ski Resort has made history this year by preserving an extraordinary amount of snow. The snow storage volume exceeds last year's amount by an astonishing 33 percent, reaching a record-breaking 200,000 cubic meters. A total of nine snow storage piles have been placed at the Levi Black Slope, the Levi Glacier area on the Front Slopes, and the Northeast Slopes.

The biggest focus during the season's opening is on the Levi Glacier. Thanks to the snow recycling process in the Glacier area, the skiable slope area will be extensive, providing excellent conditions for enthusiasts right from the start of the season.

Levi Ski Resort's sixtieth ski season will open on October 6th for both alpine skiers and cross-country skiers. The 60,000 cubic meters of preserved snow at the Levi Black Slope guarantees the successful execution of the Levi World Cup on the second weekend of November.

Over the summer, the ski resort will invest 4.5 million euros in improvements and enhancements

Levi Ski Resort continues its intensive investment program in developing its slopes and services. Over the past four years, the total value of the resort's investments has reached 24 million euros. The resort has built two state-of-the-art six-seater chairlifts, revamped slope areas including Levi West and the Glacier area, and heavily invested in snowmaking technology. The resort has focused on developing cycling facilities yearly in the area to promote year-round activities.

This summer, the modernization of the slopes continues in the Southeast Slopes. The 7.3 slope will be connected to an automatic snowmaking system, the slope area will be widened and reprofiled, and the lighting will be converted to LED lighting. These enhancements will improve the skiing experience, safety, and energy efficiency. The ski resort also invests in developing family-friendly services on the South Slopes. During the summer, the children's area Leevilandia will get more slope area and a new pome lift.

- We continue our long-term and systematic development work on the slope areas. Extensive renovations are done for the services and summer activities in the Gondola area during the summertime. The Gondola Restaurant, located in the Levi World Cup event center, will be renovated, expanded, and the building undergoes energy renovation. A new magic carpet lift and a bike training area will be built at the lower section of the Gondola. In June, a new scenic bike park route, almost five kilometers long, from the South Slopes to the Gondola will be opened. Additionally, a new concrete skatepark will be built near the Gondola area during the summer, says Jouni Palosaari, CEO of Levi Ski Resort.

Levi's summer activities and biking routes will open on June 22nd, 2023. In addition to the summer activities, skiing is also possible in Levi during midsummer as the resort opens a summer snowpark near the Gondola area for the enjoyment of skiers and snowboarders. This will be the third midsummer when the resort offers summer skiing for skiing enthusiasts.
