Levi will celebrate the opening of the new Glacier Express chairlift on December 3, 2022
On Saturday 3.12. Levi is celebrating the opening of the new Glacier Express chairlift at Front Slopes. In honor of the opening, there will e.g. be Alpen rinnerieha, demo skis and boards from different brands, and a synchronized skiing show by the Finnish Interski Demo Team. In the coming winter, synchronized skiing will be seen more in Levi in the wake of the Interski 2023 event. Free access to the Glacier Express chairlift during the day.
This winter, the skiing people will be able to travel quickly and in style at Front Slopes, as the new Glacier Express chairlift takes you up to the fell in just a little over 3 minutes. The Glacier Express chairlift is a Doppelmayer D-Line model, a similar chairlift is used in the popular Levi West. With the lift renovation, the Front Slopes have also received a new profile and top-class LED lighting.
The main idea of the Levi Glacier project is to strive for the highest possible efficiency in snow storing, both in terms of energy use, as man and machine work hours. The main goal is to reach the lowest possible snow melting percentage and to maximize snow recycling opportunities from one winter season to the next. As a result of the Glacier project, Levi is able to open the skiing season at the desired time in high-quality conditions, similar to winter, for both skiing enthusiasts and competitive athletes.
The Levi Glacier project is the latest innovation of snow technology and slope construction, and similar has not been seen before in the ski resort industry. The Levi Glacier project involves a substantial total investment of around 7.5 million euros.
