More than 10,000 ascents at the opening of Levi's newest Levi Glacier Express chairlift

The opening of the Glacier Express chairlift, located on the Front slopes, was celebrated on December 3rd, 2022, and the chairlift had free access during the day.

The opening of the Glacier Express chairlift, located on the Front slopes, was celebrated on December 3rd, 2022, and the chairlift had free access during the day. A large number of skiers and snowboarders got to know the new lift during the day, and the lift accumulated a whopping 10,000 ascents during the day.

During the opening day, there was a lot to do and to see e.g. Finland's Demo Team demonstrated a wonderful synchronized skiing show, Alpen rinnerieha, Mandatum Cup skiing competition, and there were also ski and board demonstrations from different brands and testing. The joyous winter day also included opening remarks, as well as warm soup and coffee.

The Glacier Express chairlift is a Doppelmayr D-Line model, a similar six-person chairlift is in use at the popular Levi West chairlift. With a maximum capacity of 3,000 skiers per hour, the Glacier Express chairlift takes you up to the fell in just over 3 minutes. In addition to the new chairlift, the Front Slope has been reprofiled on the right side of the lift to the delight of skiers and snowboarders.
