Aurora 2022 Future Event keynote speaker Kersti Kaljulaid, former President of Estonia

This year on the 18th of November, the Aurora Future Event in the Fell at Levi brings together speakers on equality and climate issues for the second time.

On that day, there will be a total of thirteen discussions, and the day will finish with a closing speech by Kersti Kaljulaid, former President of Estonia.

“I look forward to attending Yle’s upcoming event, Aurora, this coming November. I have had the pleasure of visiting Lapland and Levi in the past, and even then, I admired the locals' strength, perseverance, and good humour. In my role as an advocate for the UN “Every Woman Every Child” (EWEC) strategy, I focus on the well-being of women, children and young people around the world, so I am honoured to be the keynote speaker at this year’s Aurora”, says Kaljulaid.

The event has speakers such as Hanna Rintala from Nyyti ry, Aslak Holmberg, a Finnish member of the Sami Council, Lars-Ola Marakatti, a Swedish journalist, and Kerttu Kotakorpi, a meteorologist from Yle. Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), will give an inspirational speech. The content of the event and the speakers will be updated next autumn.

“This year, we've chosen climate as the theme in addition to equality and these can be discussed together or separately. I look forward to hearing about the solution-focused, forward-looking discussions we’ll have at Aurora this year”, describes Pia Louhivuori, the producer responsible for Aurora.

Aurora – the Future Event in the Fell is a cooperative project in which Yle is responsible for the content, and Visit Levi is responsible for the event planning. VR (a Finnish railway operator) is also an event partner, which will arrange the opportunity to arrive at the festival via train once again.

Aurora will be widely covered and heard on Yle’s various channels. The discussions can be followed live or later streamed on Yle Areena. In addition, the TV broadcast of the event will be shown on Friday, 18th of November on Yle TV1.
