Levi is the neatest place in Finland - let’s make sustainable actions together.
Residents, businesses, and other stakeholders in Kittilä are participating in the cleanup weeks program and inviting all friends of the pristine fell landscape to join the effort.
In May, sustainable actions are taken together in Kittilä and Levi – for the climate, nature and wiser everyday choices. All events in Kittilä and Levi are brought together under the Climate Weeks, which invite residents, associations and families to learn, participate and take action for a more sustainable future.
As part of the Climate Week programme, the Kittilä market square area will offer accessible information, engaging activities and practical tips for sustainable everyday living throughout the day. During the day, themes such as recycling, appreciation of nature, community spirit and responsible consumption are highlighted. The programme is aimed at both young people and adults and takes place in several locations around the village centre. Climate Day makes sustainability visible and easily approachable at the level of everyday life.
The Climate Weeks also include community clean-up events, encouraging people to take care of their local environment either independently or together with others. Residents, associations and local clubs can take part in clean-up initiatives in their own way, and the municipality supports association-led clean-up events with a small grant. The aim is to lower the threshold for action and remind everyone that even small acts can have a meaningful impact.
At the beginning of June, attention turns to the fell as people gather around Levi to take care of Lapland’s unique nature. The idea behind the joint clean-up effort is simple: every action counts, and together we can achieve visible results.
The Climate Weeks are part of the Kestävämpi Kittilä(More Sustainable Kittilä) project, which aims to raise broad awareness of sustainability among residents and guide people towards more sustainable choices in everyday life. The Climate Weeks offer an opportunity to participate, learn and act together – towards a more pleasant and sustainable Kittilä.
